About Us

It was 1988. A couple from Melbourne turned their youthful, enterprising beards toward their passion of travel, while the rest of the world spent their time daydreaming about hoverboard-mounted lasers, jumping into crazy pyramid scams, and listening to Milli Vanilli.

The two decided to step up their adventure and go for the wilds of Africa, maybe motivated by the upcoming release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

They converted an old council truck, packing it full of friends, supplies, aviator sunglasses, and a case or two of beer instead of the cozy air-conditioned bus.

After Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, which was published a few months prior, this road trip was supposed to be the best ever.

During the journey, Darrell and Manch changed into their world-altering sombreros and removed their flap-back sunhats.

"Hang on," they probably murmured, their mouths barely visible behind their thick beards. "Maybe this kind of travel would be something else others would be interested in?"

Indeed, akin to Dr. Jones, the two had apparently discovered the ultimate means of transportation, and happily, their attention spans outlasted their little shorts. Not long later, Lifetime Adventures was established.
